Our St James Centre nursery was originally created to support the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners within the local community, but today it is open to all families in the area looking for flexible childcare for children aged 12 weeks to 4 years. The DSS @ St James Centre nursery in Normanton has both funded and fee paying sessions available, and our staff will work with you to create a package of childcare and early education that suits the needs of your family.
Our skilled team at the nursery have a wide range of early learning resources right at their fingertips. They help all of the children in their care to develop the skills they need for the next stage of their education, working with children who speak many different languages and come from different cultural backgrounds. For parents who are studying in St James Centre with Derby College’s ESOL classes, the childcare we provide is on-site, so that they can focus on their studies with peace of mind that their children are well cared for. Ofsted graded us as Good at the last inspection in December 2016.
The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is followed in all rooms with activities developed that follow the children’s interests. Children have regular shared assessments and staff identify key next steps to support ongoing progression. Our highly qualified, graduate led team offer children a fun and stimulating experience that supports them to build the skills they need for the next stage of their early learning.
